No Bake Cookies

Yes, you can make cookies without having to baking them. How mysterious is that? I must warn you though because these cookies are very addictive but resist eating too many in a single day because the oats in them will help clean out your digestive system. They could also be considered a cure for constipation.

No Bake Cookies

These cookies are made in a pot on the stove top so no baking is necessary. Because they are a fudge-like cookie the weather does have an impact on how they turn out. I had been told that the recipe works best on clear sunny days and because rainy days have more humidity in the air the recipe may not firm up enough. But what I have learned from experience is that you are more likely to overcook them on clear sunny days and less likely to do so on rainy days. Using the test illustrated in the video demonstration you can make a perfect cookie that is not too hard nor too soft.

No Bake Cookie

Before you begin to cook the first ingredients make sure you have everything ready to go because when the mix thickens the mixing of the final ingredients in step 2 must happen quickly before the mix hardens.


Have a piece of waxed paper, parchment paper, or aluminum foil set out to place the cookies on.

Pre-Measure and set aside the following: (do not combine)

  • 1 Cup Peanutbutter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (have the vanilla ans spoon ready to add quickly when the following mix is ready)
  • 3 Cups Oats


Step 1 Combine the following in a medium to large size pot on the stove top:

  • 1 Stick of Margarine or 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons of Cocoa
  • 1/2 Cup of Evaporated Milk

Bring to a full bubbly boil. Only boil for about 60 seconds then remove from the heat source. You can test the consistency of the mix by dropping some of the sugary mix in shallow cup of cold water. If it forms a small clump that sticks to itself then it is ready. Do not overboil or the mix will harden too quickly.

Step 2 Remove from heat source then add the ingredients you set aside previously

  • Stir in 1 cup of Peanutbutter quickly. Do not take too long to mix this.
  • Then add 1 teaspoon vanilla rapidly
  • Stir in 3 cups of uncooked oats (mix quickly) The mix will loose it's shine when it firms up

Step 3 As soon all the ingredients above are mixed start spooning out the cookies on the waxed paper, parchment paper or alluminum sheet. This must be done quickly because the mix will start to firm up. If you work slowly the mix will become too hard and you will not be able to form the cookies. Drop 1 rounded tablespoon of mix to form cookies. Cool at room temperature. The cookies should be firm within the hour. Yields 3 - 4 dozen cookies.
